A few months ago, one of my close writing friends introduced me to Lauren Sapala‘s book The INFJ Writer. Thank you, Jill Cox! Jill knew I had been fighting my natural creative process and that conventional writing methods didn’t work for me. They never have, yet I continued to bang away at the keyboard, getting stuck in an endless loop of guilt and frustration that I wasn’t ‘producing’ words at a faster rate.
So, when Jill told me about the INFJ Writer, I went out and bought a copy. The book affirmed everything I had been feeling for years. As an INFP myself, I’ve struggled with conventional writing methods, self-doubt, guilt, and writer’s block. Using the Intuitive Writing Method, I learned to work with my creative energy instead of against it and have been pushed into exploring deeper truths while writing. Not only has my productivity increased, but also, my creative harmony has been restored.
This method has been truly life changing for me. After reading her books and taking her workshops, I feel called to help other writers and artists use this method to rediscover the magic of story.
Coaching other writers has been a dream I’ve had for years, but it wasn’t until I started using the Intuitive Writing process that my coaching purpose came into focus. After working through Lauren’s videos myself, I reached out to her to express my desire to coach. She’s been mentoring me in coaching using the Intuitive Writing Method and I’m now ready to take clients of my own. I’m excited to offer my services to any creatives who feel stuck and have lost the joy of their art.
What is creative coaching and is it for me?
Just like finding the right editor to understand your work, connecting with the right creative coach makes a big difference in knowing your process and being more productive. For me, as a creative coach, that means I work with those who have intuitive and empathic personality types. I coach writers and artists using the Intuitive Writing Method, which is specifically geared toward intuitive and empathic personality types.
If you’re an INFP or INFJ who is stuck on a first draft or struggles to finish creative projects, tried numerous conventional writing methods and advice, forced yourself to write every day–tried everything–only to find you are frustrated and still not making progress, I’m here to help!
So if you want a traditional writing coach—someone who will help you plot a novel or keep you accountable for word counts—I’m probably not the best person for you. I won’t prescribe a story formula for you follow, make you identify turning points, or set daily writing goals.
I Can Help You:
- Learn to trust and nurture your intuition so that you stop fighting your natural creative process.
- Teach you to connect with your characters and dive deep into their motivations and emotional truths.
- Act a sounding board as you tap into your creative well and discover the heart and soul of the story that wants to pour forth from your creative being.
- Refine your voice, not only as a human being, but as a writer and artist.
- Rekindle your joy of writing and creating without fear and judgment, so that you can find healing in your art.
Sessions with me are a mix of writing/creativity exploration, emotional research, and brainstorming. Whether it’s writer’s block, a problem with a stubborn character, an empty creative well, or real-life grief or trauma that robs you of your creative energy, I can help. My view is that everything in a writer’s life affects that writer’s work and so everything is welcome at the table.
